Under general supervision, inspects the surface condition of castings using specialized equipment and a liquid Penetrant, using predetermined inspection methods approved by Quality Assurance, to ensure conformance to customer requirements in accordance with quality standards. Ensures that documentation, tooling, and parts are correctly matched to paperwork. Ensure castings are defect free; conform to production guidelines and customer requirements by performing penetrant inspection functions following established NDT inspection methods, conforming to specifications on technique cards. Essential Job Functions: Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work. Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation. Possess the ability to handle tote boxes and castings weighing up to 35 pounds. Have read and demonstrated the ability to understand QCP 7.2 and ATM-E 1417. You must pass a current visual acuity test (eye exam) and annually thereafter. Demonstrates the ability to perform all tests and calibrations in the Penetrant area. Demonstrates an understanding of all times and temperatures used in the penetrant operation defined in QCP 7.2. Demonstrates the current washing techniques, temperature, distance, angle, and time per QCP 7.2. Demonstrates an acceptable level of operator proficiency with acceptable accuracy. (Basket loading, developing, temperature control, washing time). Demonstrates the ability how to change penetrant oil. Demonstrates ability to follow technique cards. Capable of processing castings smoothly through racking, dipping, washing, drying and developing in such a manner that Level II readers are provided a continuous flow of work. Understands that you must pass the requalification exam when requested. Fully understands plant routing documents, such as travelers, printouts, scrap tickets, and rework tickets. Understands sampling method used when specified. Understands that this position requires him/her to help train personnel of lower levels. Understands that level II personnel are responsible for accepting castings and therefore are responsible for processing of their castings. Must pass the Level I Penetrant Test with a score of 80% or better on all portions. Understands that tinted or photo gray eyeglasses cannot be used when processing parts. Must pass Gage R & R Test with a score of 90% or better and have no more than 10% deviation. Deviation in either direction (over/under inspection). Must have completed or be in the process of completing required "procedure" training (OPC's, QCP's, QSM's, HSP's, ASP's, etc.). Performs all other duties assigned.
