Pratt & Whitney is working to once again transform the future of flight—designing, building and servicing engines unlike any the world has ever seen. This is a 2nd shift position. The role involves performing metallurgical inspection processing on a wide variety of development, production and overhaul/repair parts using methods such as fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle and etch. The inspector will work from detailed procedures, technique sheets, verbal and other pertinent instructions to process parts for nondestructive testing and complete required record keeping. Responsibilities include setting up and operating equipment, identifying recurring processing problems, and assisting certified Level II inspectors. The position may also involve routine servicing and supporting specialized assignments within the scope of the job description.

  • Perform metallurgical inspection processing on a wide variety of development, production and overhaul/repair parts.
  • Utilize methods such as fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle and etch.
  • Work from detailed procedures, technique sheets, verbal and other pertinent instructions to process parts for nondestructive testing.
  • Complete required record keeping.
  • Set up, operate equipment, and check and adjust equipment and test process medium as needed.
  • Identify recurring processing problems and recommend changes in methods or equipment.
  • Recognize need for repair or replacement of equipment used in processing.
  • Assist certified Level II inspectors in the identification and dispositioning of non-conformances.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures.
  • Refer problems to supervisor as appropriate.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Level I NDT certification in Ultra Sonic or documented ultrasonic OJT hours.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Level 2 NDT OJT with recorded hours is preferred.
  • Level 2 Ultrasonic certification is preferred.
