About The Position

Element has an opportunity for a 2nd shift Fluorescent Penetrate Inspector (FPI) to perform Liquid Penetrant Testing using specific techniques on aerospace products. Uses knowledge of products, manufacturing processes, equipment set-up, and NDT methods to process parts for inspection following specific operating procedures. Interprets and evaluates test results.

Requirements

• Pass written and practical examinations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees of organization.
• Ability to calculate ratios and proportions.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Review routers, procedures, specifications, drawings and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation.
• Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for welding, machining, cold forming, and/or casting discontinuities exceeding requirements specified.
• Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on NDT (Liquid Penetrant Test) equipment by following established instructions and record results.
• Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results as required.
• May perform other NDT tasks as qualified for and as required (visual, MPI, etc.).
• Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.).
• Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to Level I NDT Inspectors, trainees and fellow Level II NDT Inspectors.
