About The Position

The Shipper/Receiver I is responsible for assembling prepack materials, picking orders, putting away product to assigned locations, packing orders, packaging bulk product into individuals to make available for sale, and inspecting product for damage. The position involves obtaining a copy of the production schedule or shipping order and transporting material to and from designated areas in the facility. The individual will check the identification of materials to be moved, cross-reference with production or shipping schedules, and report any inconsistencies or problems to the supervisor. Responsibilities also include picking orders utilizing the warehouse management system, packing pulled orders for shipment, performing minor assembly of various kits, keeping tally of product moved, and conducting daily safety inspections of equipment. The role may require assistance in other departments based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others.
  • Ability to move or lift up to 29lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Employees must be able to read numbers, perform basic mathematical calculations, and comprehend basic safety instructions.
  • Must be able to work overtime as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain copy of production schedule or shipping order and transport material to and from designated areas in the facility.
  • Check identification of materials to be moved, cross-reference with production schedule or shipping schedule, and move to required location.
  • Pick orders utilizing the warehouse management system, validating parts and quantities.
  • Pack pulled orders to prepare them for shipments, stacking and strapping using automatic banding equipment.
  • Pack bulk product to make available as single for sale to customers.
  • Perform minor assembly of various kits as instructed by area coordinator.
  • Keep tally or count of product moved and report to production supervisor.
  • Use safety cut tools to open boxes, containers, remove strapping and wrapping, and dispose of safely.
  • Place protective materials around loads when necessary and use hand or automatic strapping equipment to secure loads.
  • Inspect product for damage, replace damaged packaging, and scrap out damaged product.
  • Perform daily safety inspection of equipment.
  • Assist in other departments, including line support and material handling, as available.
