This position is for a Leak Test (LT) NDE Technician in SRNL’s High Pressure Laboratory Team. Candidates hired at this level will have prior NDE experience, having at least Level II certification in Leak Testing or other methods. If candidate has no certification in Leak Testing, once hired they will be responsible for successfully completing classroom and hands-on instruction in order to gain Level II certification in Leak Testing. Training and development of Trainee will be in accordance with the SRS site written practice (Manual D2, Procedure NDEP 2.1) which is in compliance with the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Responsibilities Additional responsibilities of the position include: Applying acquired knowledge of theory, math, and NDE principles/techniques to the performance of NDE examinations and exercises. Making judgments on the validity of NDE examinations and interpreting the results of examinations while under the direct supervision of LT Level II or III (until trainee obtains own LT Level II certification). Documenting results which are also reviewed by LT Level II or III (until trainee obtains own LT Level II certification). Perform NDE examinations in accordance with oral instructions and written procedures. Perform proof testing/ pressure testing of various components. Fabricate/assemble piping/ tubing per ASME B31.3 requirements. Interface with engineers and scientists on a daily basis. Troubleshooting and inspection of pressurized systems. Aid in the study, development, testing, and analyses of new or specialized NDE methods, techniques, or equipment relating to a limited phase of a group's or team's function. Basic understanding of drawings and prints. Clearly communicating test results to customers. Working well with a team. Meet stringent safety and security requirements. Rare potential for short term (typically one week or less) travel.
