The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities. NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world. NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings. The Information Technology Directorate (ITD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a SharePoint Administrator, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Information Technology Directorate (ITD) within NCIS. Perform On-Prem SharePoint 2019 farm upgrade from SharePoint 2013 Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques Provides Microsoft SharePoint 2019 administrator support for a large customer within the DoD community Experience and knowledge with SharePoint Online administration Experience administering Windows Servers, Active Directory including ADFS, DNS, SMTP, Network Load Balancing, Reverse proxy, Windows Firewall, Event Viewer Performance Monitoring and PowerShell scripting Experience configuring and maintaining SharePoint Enterprise search, index configurations, and scheduling Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in a SharePoint environment In-depth knowledge and experience administering and managing Microsoft SharePoint enterprise environments In-depth knowledge of Internet Information Services (IIS) and its relationship with .Net Framework, ASP.Net, Application Pools, configuration files and how IIS handles user authentication Provide critical problem solving and advanced troubleshooting including site problems, address site permission issues, creation and configuration of sites and sub-sites, assist in definition of site resources Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques Plans for and install service packs, hotfixes, updates and patches during off-peak time as required and communicate any downtime to business Performing data retrieval and backup procedures to prevent data loss Ensuring sufficient storage space by performing clean-ups and archiving data Reviewing usage and activity reports and adjusting ensure optimized user-experiences Experience with Information Assurance practices and principles (ex. STIGs) Provide security operations or coordinates security operations functions in support of cybersecurity accreditation-risk management framework (RMF) continuous monitoring process
