The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of over 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities. This position is pending funding. HOW OUR FIELD COMPUTER SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: As a Field Computer Specialist, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our NCIS team onsite in Norfolk, VA. Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and/or enhancement of company technical products, programs, and systems. On-site engineering technicians who utilize analytical and critical thinking to troubleshoot issues and problems with equipment or systems. Applies theories and write reports to outline issues and solutions. Provide IT support throughout area of responsibility Utilize ServiceNow for change management, ticketing system and asset inventory Coordinate troubleshooting efforts for resolution of network outages Perform Trusted Agent functions for SIPR Token program Assist users in the region with VTC system deployment and maintenance Support various admin duties, ex. Audits, inspections, create SOP, various data calls, training requirements, etc. Support NMCI by gathering requirements, ordering equipment, and coordinating with the Contract Technical Representative (CTR). Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets, configure equipment out-of-the-box, and support troubleshooting Helps diagnose and resolve computer-related problems as requested by employees and contractors, either in person or by using remote control software Responds to telephone calls and email requests for technical support Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves problems with business applications and hardware on all enclaves Performs general maintenance tasks and resolves fewer complex problems immediately, while more complex issues are communicated to a higher level of support Accurately documents all work in appropriate problem-tracking software Brief Senior Leadership on all IT issues affecting the AOR Accurately documents all work, inventory, and system changes in ServiceNow Travel (primarily local – government vehicle provided) is required for this position.
