About The Position

Lancaster Metal Manufacturing is a sheet metal shop and subsidiary of U.S. Boiler Company. Our metal is used to create residential and commercial heating products that have been designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically. Headquartered in Lancaster, PA, our facilities employ nearly 300 people from our community. Every product that leaves our factory has been designed, engineered, and produced for exclusive use in North America. U.S. Boiler Company is a subsidiary of Burnham Holdings, Inc. We are seeking a NC Cutting Machine Operator to join our team! This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are 3rd Shift Sunday, 10:00PM-6:00AM Monday-Thursday, 8:30PM-6:00AM.  Overtime and Saturdays as needed. This position will, under general supervision, sets up and operates N.C. Cutting Machine/Laser using proper procedures as outlined on computed program to punch and/or burn holes in metal.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and reach up to 7 feet

  • Experience with hand, power, and measuring tools a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Set-up using computed program in accordance with orders.
  • Enter program number from routing sheet.
  • Check material for proper size.
  • Gather punches and dies with proper clearance.
  • Check program for latest revision and approval.
  • Transfer A.S.M.E. code markings as specified.
  • Do minor maintenance.
  • Change consumables, clean machine and empty water trough.
  • Do quality checks as required.
  • Recommend ordering tooling and consumables.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Required to fill out job cards, data sheets and reports accurately and legibly.
  • Follow program sequence in operation.
  • Check reference to align table relative to specifications tooling required as computed program specifies. Select tooling required as computed program specifics. Set clamps as required.
  • Inserting proper gauge and cut of steel, which is precut to comply with order. Keep alert on panel reading of controls for interference of clamps, tooling, etc.
  • Moves material in and out of department as required.
  • May be required to operate powered truck and/or hand truck, if licensed.
  • Refers unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Work station must be kept clean and organized.
  • Performs other work as directed commensurate with this or lessor rated labor grades.
