About The Position

Regularly performs the full range and scope of maintenance and housekeeping services that include but not limited to the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG guest rooms, public spaces etc. Assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical repairs, maintenance using various equipment etc. Takes initiative to ensure all aspects of the facility are working correctly.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas: Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Painting.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment.
  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor unassisted, lifting, moving and carrying supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds, 100 pounds assisted.
  • Must be able to climb, descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions.
  • Valid state driver license may be required for travel to other facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
  • Three years of maintenance work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures.
  • Maintains work order log and follows up as required.
  • Reports status to supervisor.
  • Logs trouble calls with contractor as appropriate.
  • Makes basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves, on washing machines and water supply.
  • Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers to include cleaning lint ducts and vents replacing hoses and fittings as required.
  • Recognizes the cause of faulty HVAC equipment and assists making repairs on a variety of HVAC units.
  • Recognizes and reports electrical problems making repairs as appropriate.
  • Measures, cuts and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items.
  • Conducts basic carpentry repairs such as repairing or replacing screens, window and door frames, molding and trim.
  • Preparation of areas and standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying for painting.
  • Completes work assignments independently without specific instructions.
  • Carries out recurring assignments such as follow-up on maintenance requests reported by guests, housekeeping or front desk.
