About The Position

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a NavMPS (Naval Mission Planning System) Systems Engineer (Journey) for support to the Strike Planning and Execution Systems Program Office (PMA-281) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will perform as a Systems Engineer within the NavMPS (Naval Mission Planning System) IPT with a focus on modernizing the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) Expeditionary mission planner. The program focuses on the replacement of legacy mission planning software and system architectures to achieve real-time collaboration, automation, and enhanced mission capabilities for Marine Corps aircrew and expeditionary planners. The program is applying innovative software technologies, large scale Agile, and SecDevOps to revolutionize mission planning solutions and the deployment of those solutions to operational environments. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team that will bring modern digital technologies to the planning, execution, and post-mission analysis for U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Forces. This position allows for hybrid (mixed on-site and telework) efforts. Requires travel approximately 6 times per year. Current Secret clearance is required. The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to: Apply systems engineering processes to the analysis, planning, development, verification, deployment, and documentation of modern mission planning software. Analyze a variety of current and next generation mission operation domains in order to translate these into requirements and system views using MBSE. Engage directly with Naval aircrew and Project Officers to evaluate gaps and identify improvements to the Next Gen mission planning solutions, and translate those into requirements, digital representations (Models, Use Cases, Interactions, etc), and recommendation briefs. Collaborate with leadership, other engineers, vendors, and software project leads in a large scale Agile SAFe workflow software development process to evolve user requirements into solutions that enhance the mission planning. Participate or lead working groups to address system safety and certification requirements and documentation for the software. Participate in working groups to document and address cyber and software security requirements. Participate or lead risk management tracking and mitigation for assigned efforts. Coordinate with test & evaluation activities to ensure that the mission planning solutions are sufficiently verified & validated. Coordinate with (and in many cases lead) action teams that will include SMEs, engineers, vendors, and aircrew from the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and JSF to analyze, plan, and address engineering and software challenges for the program. Assist with vendor tasking, guidance, & oversight in the development of technical SOWs, participation with TIMs, PMRs, and review of CDRLs. Advise and assist NAVAIR executives, managers, and supervisors in the planning and implementation of systems engineering and digital engineering policy and guidance. Support project planning and technical cost estimates. Author reports, provide progress reviews, and brief Senior NAVAIR Leadership on status and technical analysis.

Requirements

  • A bachelors degree from an accredited university; or technical/scientific degree with systems engineering experience on DoW program(s)
  • Junior or Journey level experience working engineering activities for a technology program
  • Ability to travel within CONUS
  • Must hold an Active Secret clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
