About The Position

The Lead Navigator provides leadership and daily support to Navigator staff by guiding linkage and referral processes, documentation, and use of community resources, while also delivering direct services to clients and families. This role assists the Special Projects Director with staff training, monitors caseloads to ensure timely follow-up and quality documentation, and supports quality assurance through chart and report review. The Lead Navigator serves as a point of contact for complex or high-needs cases, represents the program at meetings when needed, and maintains coordination with referral sources such as All For Kids, the Department of Children and Family Services, and other community agencies. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate data in electronic systems, generating monthly reports, responding to information requests, ensuring compliance with all agency and regulatory requirements, maintaining strong community partnerships, attending required trainings and meetings, and assisting with program events and activities.

Requirements

  • Basic advocacy skills and ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office software; sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork, SHIELDS for Families’ mission, and culturally responsive, respectful service delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and acquire new skills.
  • Valid California driver’s license, car insurance, car registration, acceptable driving record, and access to reliable transportation; may require travel or co-location throughout SPA 6.
  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of direct service experience, or High School diploma with four years of experience in social services or a related field; demonstrated therapeutic skills through education, training, or work experience.
