About The Position

CACI is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in support of the Navy, MSC, USCG or similar surface ship vessels. You will be working to solve and manage various technical problems in the area of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems in support of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture Manager. Responsibilities: Development of marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications. Technical Analysis & Support: Review and analyze mechanical, electrical propulsion, and auxiliary/piping systems. Develop technical data packages to support vessel design, construction, and maintenance. Engineering Services: Provide comprehensive support in areas such as specification writing, system design, system modeling, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawings, select record drawing updates, ship checks, and technical document preparation, all aligned with drawing standards and marine design best practices. Research and Development: Plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate auxiliary systems, mechanical and electro-mechanical components, controls, engines, machines, and thermal hydraulic systems for naval vessels.

Requirements

  • BS or BSE Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, or Naval Architecture (or equivalent)
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to analyze and solve mechanical problems, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CAD software, with the ability to draft detailed multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, assemblies, and products.
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams, sharing knowledge and collaborating to achieve engineering objectives while learning from others.
  • Ability to perform Ship Checks in an industrial environment
  • Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Autodesk design tools (i.e. AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS, Inventor), Pipe-FLO, Ship Constructor, or similar tools
  • 2-5 years of Naval design and/or shipyard experience supporting alteration of in-service vessels or new-construction design
  • NAVSEA 05 or Operational experience in Marine Systems (CIVMAR, USN, MM)
  • Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, material science, and mechanics of materials.
  • Experience with Navy Surface Ships Main Propulsion Systems, HM&E System, Merchant Marine or Navy Experience.
  • Experience presenting design proposals for Government review
  • Active Secret Clearance
