About The Position

TAI is currently searching for an experienced Naval Engineer to join our in Houston, TX. The ideal person independently performs Naval Engineering activities for all phases of mechanical development and equipment design for a project of significant size and complexity. Must be fully competent in performing all conventional aspects of Naval Engineering and application of independent judgment for the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering criteria, methods and procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Naval Architecture & Maritime Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 0-5 years of Naval Architect experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the senior Naval Architect in the design, development and evaluation of the operation of marine vessels.
  • Assist with naval architecture analysis related to vessels.
  • Help with the stability analyses of ships.
  • Assist with the design complete hull and superstructure according to specifications and test data, in conformity with standards of safety, efficiency and economy.
  • Develop detail design/drafting in CAD format for vessel modifications, vessel repairs, outfitting and site plans.
  • Adhere to all company safety, environmental, quality assurance and security programs.
