About The Position

Nuturopathic Physician opportunity at Sierra Tucson - PRN. Sierra Tucson is located on a beautiful serene 160-acre campus - located in the Sonoran Desert just north of Tucson, AZ. For over 40 years we have offered residential and inpatient treatment for Addiction Recovery, Trauma Recovery, Pain Recovery, Mood and Anxiety. Sierra Tucson is known for its integrative approach to treatment. The Sierra Tucson Model® reflects a deep commitment to treating the whole person with integrated, individualized, evidenced-based treatments and integrative therapies. Overview: Working one on one with patients treating a variety of health concerns. It is common for patients to need treatment for nutritional deficiencies, anxiety, digestive upset and endocrine issues (including thyroid/hormonal/adrenal/blood sugar optimization). The patients can range from those who choose to not use prescription medications and ask for natural remedies to, more commonly, those who are on a multitude of prescriptions and seek additional care for their physical/mental disorders. Modalities employed include nutraceuticals, herbs, and homeopathy. This position offers the opportunity to work as part of an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrists and other psychiatric providers, physician assistants, dietitians, physical therapist, psychologists, clinical therapists and others. Our integrative department has a staff of 23 and includes 2 naturopathic doctors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, craniosacral therapists, shiatsu practitioners, zero balance practitioners, yoga instructors, and a personal trainer.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited naturopathic medical school.
  • Pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination (NPLEX).
  • Pass jurisprudence examinations and meet other state requirements.
  • Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
  • Licensed Naturopathic Doctor in the state of Arizona.
  • DEA license.

Responsibilities

  • Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
  • Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
  • Order blood work, prescribe medications and help coordinate their care with other providers.
  • Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
