About The Position

Work with the Nature Day Camp Director and co-counselors to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the camp, as well as provide a fun, safe, and memorable camp experience. Working hours for this position will vary Monday-Friday between the hours of 6:45AM-6:15PM for the duration of the 10-week program (8-9-hour shift). Select mandatory training schedule will be provided by Recreation Department manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• 1-year experience supervising children.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
• Willingness to engage with parents and communicate about their child's growth and success.
• Knowledge of English word usage, spelling, and punctuation.
• Knowledge of various recreational games and activities.
• Good leadership, communication, and social skills.
• Communicate effectively with participants and parents.
• Give clear and concise instructions.
• Ability to talk, hear, and see.
• Must be able to traverse park trails, with varying degrees of difficulty, at least 1.5 miles
• Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to supervise students in multiple environments including in nature on trails, fields, and woodlands.
• Must pass required State and Federal Background Checks

Nice To Haves

• Enrolled in a secondary education program for Education, Park and Rec, or related field.
• 1-year supervising children.
• A passion for the outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement environmental education lessons alongside co-counselors.
• Provide a safe environment for all campers.
• Lead and assist in coordinating structured games, activities, and crafts.
• Keep track of supplies including sporting equipment, crafts, and board game pieces.
• Promote a positive outdoor experience.
• Supervise campers' daily activities.
