About The Position

The Nature Center Day Camp Site Supervisor is responsible for the direction and supervision of all counselors, campers, volunteers and day camp activities. They are responsible for the day-to-day running of their assigned age group and will participate in the planning, organizing, safety and implementation of camp. This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities include: Work with staff to develop weekly lesson plans to cover basic activities for camp. Give needed supply lists to the Nature Center Coordinator to order at least three weeks prior to the event or camp session. Interact and engage with the children both one-on-one and group activities. Assist in keeping the facility clean by monitoring activities and reporting breakage and safety problems. Assist in record keeping with sign-in/sign-out logs, taking attendance and filling out accident/incident reports as needed, permission slips, informational sheets, ePact evaluations, etc. Coordinate with NWSRA, as needed. Assist with arrangements for substitute counselors and volunteers, when needed. Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience working with children required.
  • Should have an outgoing personality with good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be dependable and have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and be able to provide own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Class work and/or interest in education and/or recreation preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certified a plus.
