About The Position

We are looking for a Natural Resources Permitting Manager who excels at the intersection of leadership, development, and the environment. This is a hybrid role and will be based out of our offices in Vancouver, WA. As the leader of this team, you will manage complex projects and provide expertise in ecological assessments, habitat restoration, complex project permitting strategies, methodology improvement, and regulatory compliance. You will bring high-level technical leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship. Additional responsibilities include pursuing and securing business opportunities through networking, marketing, and client referrals. We intend to fill this position with a candidate who brings a critical set of skills, knowledge, and experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical, natural, or environmental science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience mapping and permitting natural resource impacts.
  • Knowledge of a variety of natural resource requirements, including Biological Assessments, Critical Areas Reports, Shoreline Permits, 404/401 applications, NEPA/SEPA documents, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and leading project pursuits, client development, identifying opportunities, and maintaining client relationships.
  • Writing skills, proposal and budget development, project management, and client development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring a team
  • Experience in Oregon and Washington, preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in physical, natural, or environmental science, or related field.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist, Certified Wildlife Biologist, WSDOT Senior BA Author, ODOT Endangered Species Act Qualified Biologist, or other relevant certifications desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of motivated and engaged environmental scientists, wetland scientists, wildlife biologists, and GIS specialists.
  • Lead coordination with clients and city, county, state, and federal regulators.
  • Partner with our business development group to grow the team through business development strategy, implementation, and proposal development.
  • Manage Oregon and Washington natural resource mapping and permitting projects to help clients realize their goals related to environmental planning/permitting, and environmental reviews (e.g., federal/state/local natural resource permitting and environmental reviews, wetland and/or water resource permitting, Endangered Species Act consultations, NEPA/SEPA documentation, etc.).
  • Oversee contract execution and implementation for large clients, including federal clients.
  • Lead annual and long-term planning strategy development and implementation while mentoring business development and marketing seller/doer skills in junior staff.
  • Manage fieldwork for a variety of natural resources, including fish, wildlife, and plants.
  • Manage wetland/waters delineations to comply with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Manage and prepare technical reports for a variety of natural resource requirements, including Biological Assessments, Critical Areas Reports, Shoreline Permits, 404/401 applications, NEPA/SEPA documents, etc.
  • Lead the team’s safety, values, and emotional intelligence-driven culture.
