About The Position

WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections. Our Earth and Environment Team is seeking a part-time Natural Resources Intern - Summer 2026 to work out of our St. Louis, MO office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Natural Resources-specific program such as Biology, Fisheries & Wildlife, Botany or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Fisheries Science, Botany, Herpetology or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Biology, Fisheries & Wildlife Science, Botany, Natural Resources-specific program or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
  • Actively participates in local professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of Natural Resources-focused tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of applying natural resources and biological science in the professional consultant workspace.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and technical report writing for a variety of private, federal and/or state compliance projects.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Learn about the regulatory framework established by the U.S. EPA, United States Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, State agencies, State Water Boards, Department of Defense, and other relevant agencies.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation, such as project notes, field notes, meeting minutes, quality control documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
