About the position

The Natural Resource Worker 2 (NRW2) position is a part-time (24-hours per week), permanent role located in the Olympic Region - Forks, WA. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to be at the heart of maintaining and beautifying state facilities and grounds. Reporting to the Facilities Services Coordinator, the worker will play a pivotal part in advancing the Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) mission of stewardship and sustainability. Responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of buildings and creating safe outdoor spaces. The position offers opportunities for skill development in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, and wildfire support, contributing to a better future for communities and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial duties including cleaning various buildings, offices, rooms, and restrooms.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and steam clean carpets and floors.
  • Empty waste baskets and wash windows and blinds.
  • Deep clean barracks in Port Angeles and Forks.
  • Conduct minor painting and facility maintenance.
  • Setup conference rooms and clean surfaces.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as picking up debris, mowing, weed trimming, and blowing sidewalks.
  • Trim hedges and shrubs, and remove snow and ice during winter.

Requirements

  • Six months of manual labor experience, including minor repairs of equipment and small buildings/structures.
  • Experience in janitorial work.
  • Experience operating small-motorized equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, and weed eaters.
  • Experience using a computer, including email and internet searches.
