About The Position

The Natural Resource Technician II position is a full-time, temporary role within the Department of Natural Resources, specifically in the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division. The technician will primarily serve as a field technician for Ramsey Grove, assisting with various wildlife management activities across different Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and Heritage Preserves in the region. The role involves hands-on work in wildlife and habitat management, public hunting activities, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma and two years of related experience in wildlife, fisheries, or agricultural work; or an associate degree in the technical sciences.
• Ability to operate and repair tractors, farm implements, power, and hand tools.
• Ability to conduct public hunts.
• Ability to work independently and perform strenuous tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and the general public.
• Ability to perform limited facilities maintenance.
• Ability to perform agricultural activities such as disking, mowing, and planting.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work some early/late days and occasional weekends.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of wildlife management techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, planting, cultivation, and management of waterfowl impoundments on Ramsey Grove.
• Conduct wildlife management and habitat management activities in various areas within the region.
• Plan and purchase necessary agricultural supplies, including seed, fertilizer, lime, and equipment.
• Plant and maintain wildlife openings on Ramsey Grove.
• Maintain equipment in operational condition.
• Conduct public hunts for deer and waterfowl on Ramsey Grove.
• Maintain infrastructure as required.
