About The Position

Join the SWE Response team at Apple as a Senior Research Scientist, where you will work on cutting-edge generative modeling technologies and their application to virtual assistants, enriching the experiences of billions of people. This role focuses on the design and development of training, adapting, and deploying large-scale machine learning models, particularly in natural language understanding, generation, speech, and multimodal generation. You will advance and apply the latest machine learning techniques to enhance the Siri experience for millions of users worldwide.

Requirements

• 5 - 7+ years experience in Machine Learning and its application to NLP, NLG or Speech.
• Hands-on experience training LLMs and adapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasks & human alignment.
• Experience delivering ML capabilities into great products.
• Proficiency in using ML toolkits, e.g., PyTorch.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, and C++.
• Proficiency in using ML toolkits, e.g., PyTorch.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with JAX.

Responsibilities

• Train large scale language and multimodal models on distributed backends.
• Deploy compact neural architectures such as transformers efficiently on device.
• Learn policies that can be personalized to the user in a privacy-preserving manner.
• Ensure quality with an emphasis on fairness and model robustness.
• Interact closely with a variety of ML researchers, software engineers, hardware, and design teams cross-functionally.
• Enrich conversation understanding capabilities through LLM and multimodal models.
• Focus on enriching system safety experience.
