We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Natural Gas Trader in Houston, Texas. The Natural Gas Trader will be responsible for executing short term physical trading opportunities within the U.S. market areas (primarily the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast). The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with Scheduling on a daily basis and communicate clearly while executing in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum three years energy industry experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate efficiently with external & internal customers.
• Understand the gas grid and transportation components.
• Self-starter/responsible for assessing and making quick decisions
• Team oriented.
• Ability to work hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Disciplined work ethic, work with a sense of urgency and have strong drive for results.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problem areas before they become exacerbated.

Responsibilities

• Procuring gas supply for OxyChem plants and cogen facilities
• Trading and optimizing around transportation, storage and current deals
• Working with the entire Gas Marketing team to evaluate supply/demand market trends
• Coordinating with Operations to ensure proper deal capture within OxyChem Allegro system (eventually OATI)
• Coordinating scheduling activities
• Monitor respective market area EBBs for scheduled maintenance and potential market impacts
• Developing customer relationships
• Monitor, track and report in a timely manner, physical and financial position quantities at multiple locations
