You will be a key member of a client facing consulting team evaluating project needs, identifying critical risks and providing solutions in support of energy project financing and development. Your primary responsibilities will include business development, leading scoping and feasibility studies for our growing owner’s advisory services practice, and project management. Your effort will require the creation of due diligence reports, interfacing with clients and lenders regarding the projects of interest and increasing our capabilities and processes in our owner’s advisory services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a focus on renewable and conventional fuels.
  • 10+ years of total experience.
  • Experience with the design and construction of natural gas systems.
  • Project management or project engineer experience.
  • Professional Engineering license.
  • Experience understanding technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to varied audiences.
  • Experience with emerging technologies, validate conceptual designs, and assess feasibility.
  • Experience with interplay between process performance, operating costs, and project financial viability.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference towards 5+ years of experience working in the renewable natural gas or similar industries.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or related field with a focus on fuels or chemicals.
  • Prior experience working remotely or with an organization that works remotely.
  • Prior experience with technical due diligence for project financing.
  • Professional experience with organizations outside of your work in the field of mechanical engineering.
  • Professional recognition of expertise or leadership.
  • Knowledge and background in Carbon Intensity calculations and methodologies including Cal-GREET, ANL-GREET, Corsia, and Open LCA.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Engineering: Provide engineering guidance to our Owner’s Advisory service practice. In this role you will assist developers in their efforts to design, install, or operate their technical systems. Provide this guidance based on your experience with standard industry practices in the natural gas pipeline, compressor station, renewable natural gas generation, and other fuel production systems. Go in the field with other engineers to assess challenges and monitor the construction of various facilities.
  • Manage Projects: Our PMs are asked to manage the cost, scope, and schedule of one or more projects. In this role, they are the primary contact for our clients on a project and are responsible for the delivery of the work product and managing the report through our QA/QC process.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Our PMs can also serve as the primary subject matter expert in natural gas (pipelines and compressor stations) and renewable natural gas technologies (digestors, landfill gas collection systems) and industry best practices.
  • Process Design Review: Leverage your design background to evaluate designs of natural gas and renewable natural gas systems.
  • Scoping and Feasibility Studies: Oversee the development of scoping and feasibility studies by other chemical and mechanical engineers in FEL-1 and FEL-2 packages.
  • On-Site Monitoring: Travel to project sites to oversee pilot or demonstration facilities, monitor construction progress, and conduct performance tests for emerging commercial facilities.
  • Business Development: Participate in business development meetings, contributing to proposal writing and engaging with potential clients.
  • Client Relations: Develop and maintain strong client relationships within the developer, financial institution, and technology provider communities.
