We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Natural Gas Scheduler in Houston, Texas. The Natural Gas Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing the gas movements made by the Natural Gas Trader. The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with the Trader on a daily basis and communicate clearly while executing in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years energy industry experience and gas scheduling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate efficiently with external & internal customers.
  • Must be able to work hours as needed, including evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Disciplined work ethic, work with a sense of urgency and have strong drive for results.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problem areas before they become exacerbated.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Allegro system (eventually OATI) and pipeline EBB operations is a plus.
  • Experience scheduling Texas and Gulf Coast Pipelines is a plus (Kinder Morgan Texas, Kinder Morgan Tejas, HPL, Enterprise Intrastate (Channel) Atmos Energy, Bridgeline-EnLink/LRM, LIG, Acadian Gas Pipeline, Boardwalk (Gulf South), ANR, Southern Natural Gas and Midcontinent Pipeline (Southern Star)
  • Working knowledge of the gas grid and transportation components is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FERC rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of pipeline grid/system.
  • Self-starter/responsible for nominations and scheduling.
  • Team oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate movement of natural gas to meet contractual obligations.
  • Complete daily and monthly nomination deadlines, including maintaining T-Accounts by pipeline in Excel.
  • Timely and accurately schedule and path daily activity in OxyChem’s gas management system (Allegro and eventually OATI).
  • Work closely with accounting to resolve rate and volume discrepancies.
  • Monitor pipeline EBB’s daily for constraints, maintenance, critical day notices and Operational Flow Orders to ensure flow of natural gas and minimize curtailments and penalties.
  • Provide trading with accurate and timely notice of operational developments including imbalance positions, capacity availability, pipeline operational status.
  • Coordinate nomination process with OxyChem’s Gas Marketing Team and plant staff to ensure daily/monthly nominations are accurate.
  • Monitor, track and report in a timely manner, estimated/allocated quantities and resulting imbalance levels by contract and points.
  • Manage daily and monthly imbalances to confirm contractual rate accuracy and verify cash out position.
