Native Language Teaching Assistant (Pashto Bilingual)
About The Position
The Native Language Teaching Assistant works under the direct supervision of the ESL/Bilingual teacher and under the broad supervision of the building principal(s) and Director of Multilingual Programs. The Teaching Assistant shall assume the following duties: Provide native language literacy and/or math instruction to small groups of students. Assist in supporting ESL classrooms and/or general education classrooms as determined by the supervisor(s). Assist the translation/interpretation in appropriate native languages of students and families. Perform all other duties and tasks assigned from time to time by the supervisor as it relates to individual students or the classroom.
Requirements
- Must meet all requirements for the position as designated by the ISBE
- Paraprofessional Certificate or 60 hours of college credit are required.
- Highly organized
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem-solver
- Pashto bilingual required
