About The Position

The National Team Managing Director (NTMD) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the National Team program for USA Swimming, including high performance, athlete and coach services, funding, and operations for both pool and open water training and competitions. This senior executive role requires extensive coaching experience and a vision for the future of the National Team, with a focus on building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The NTMD will lead the U.S. National Team at major international competitions and develop strategic plans to ensure success at the Olympic Games and other key events.

Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years as a swim coach, including head coaching experience.
• Extensive domestic and international coaching success.
• Experience working with elite-level athletes and coaches.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
• Exceptional leadership, supervisory, and strategic planning skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with the USOPC, NCAA, and World Aquatics.
• Knowledge of international sport structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the U.S. National Team at international competitions, focusing on Operation Gold events.
• Direct the creation of the annual High-Performance Plan with the USOPC.
• Develop strong relationships with National Team and National Junior Team athletes and coaches.
• Provide leadership and oversight for National Team programs, including performance plans and athlete services.
• Manage the coordination of all pool and open water team selections.
• Oversee the budget for the National Team Division.
• Interface with external organizations like the USOPC and NCAA.
