About The Position

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Cognitive Electronic Warfare (EW) Simulation & AI Intern to support unclassified research and development activities at our Huntsville, Alabama office. This internship focuses on developing a digital representation of how artificial intelligence (AI) enabled EW systems. The simulation, threat detection, and adaptive decision-making will be used to support future simulations that represent realistic test environments. The intern will support the design and development of a Python-based Cognitive EW simulation environment, generate synthetic EW scenarios and integrate open-source AI models to autonomously detect, classify, and respond to electronic threats. This work supports future Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) efforts across defense programs.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Python programming
  • Interest in AI, machine learning, or simulation
  • Ability to work independently in a research-focused environment

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to signal processing or electronic warfare concepts
  • Basic data analysis or visualization experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance a Python-based EW simulation framework
  • Generate synthetic EW data and test scenarios
  • Integrate AI/ML algorithms for cognitive decision-making
  • Measure and analyze model performance (detection accuracy, response time, adaptability)
  • Document results and present findings to technical staff
