About The Position

The National Product Specialist serves as the company’s technical authority and national subject matter expert for crane maintenance, diagnostics, control systems, and proprietary software platforms. This role is responsible for developing and delivering national technical training programs, supporting complex field diagnostics, ensuring regulatory and certification compliance, and serving as a high-level escalation point for advanced technical issues. The position supports Service, Operations, and Sales to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective fleet performance across all regions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 5–10+ years progressive experience in crane service or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Strong background in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, crane control systems, CAN bus networks, and diagnostic software
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, practical instruction.
  • Willingness to travel nationally (50–70% depending on company needs).

Nice To Haves

  • Instructional leadership, technical certification, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on industry experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering technical training to adult learners preferred
  • Experience with manufacturers such as Liebherr, Terex, Manitowoc, or similar crane OEMs
  • Background in training curriculum development or instructional design.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the national subject matter expert for complex crane diagnostics, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, CAN bus controls, and LMI systems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic crane systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeat failures and improve fleet reliability.
  • Supports major overhauls and advanced diagnostics.
  • Partner with manufacturers regarding warranty, campaigns, and technical resolutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain a structured national technical training roadmap.
  • Develop in-person, virtual, and e-learning training programs.
  • Create and maintain training materials including manuals, presentations, videos, simulators, and certification curriculum.
  • Ensure training aligns with manufacturer standards, safety regulations, and internal service objectives.
  • Support product launches with national rollout training.
  • Track and manage regulated licenses and certifications for service personnel.
  • Maintain a national certification database and renewal schedule.
  • Coordinate factory training to ensure compliance alignment.
  • Support audit readiness through proper documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer standards.
  • Act as a liaison between service teams and crane OEM manufacturers.
  • Coordinate factory training schedules and certification plans.
  • Communicate field feedback to manufacturers and leadership.
  • Collaborate with Director of Service, Regional Service Managers, on repair strategy and lifecycle planning.
  • Assist leadership with service standards and process development.
  • Identify opportunities for parts standardization and cost recovery.
  • Provide reports on training completion, certification compliance, and fleet performance trends.
