About The Position

The American Heart Association is seeking a Policy Analyst for a fellowship focused on policy implementation and outcome evaluation, particularly in acute systems of care. This role involves conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess the impact of public policy initiatives, developing a research agenda, and collaborating with government agencies and experts to enhance knowledge sharing. The position is designed to contribute to the Association's mission of improving public health through effective policy advocacy and research.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Experience in evaluation, surveillance systems, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience translating scientific research into policy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with the public policy advocacy process.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressures.
  • Comfort in convening expert advisory groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a national policy analyst fellowship focusing on policy implementation and outcome evaluation, especially in acute systems of care.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses related to policy implementation.
  • Help develop a policy-relevant research agenda to share with the research community.
  • Lead writing groups and author papers based on analyses for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Interact with relevant government agencies, partners, and thought leaders to facilitate knowledge sharing and learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
