About The Position

The Century Foundation seeks a consultant to manage member engagement, partnerships, strategic development, and administration for the National Newcomer Network (NNN). This consultant will report to TCF Fellow and NNN Director, Alejandra Vázquez Baur.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in education, immigration, or similar fields;
  • Excellent analytical writing skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team;
  • An interest in and basic knowledge of education policy and the immigration landscape;
  • Passion for educational equity for immigrant students, students of color, and other marginalized groups of students;
  • Passion for advancing policies centered in dignity and opportunity for all people, including immigrants;
  • An eagerness to learn;
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, particularly sheets and docs, as well as familiarity with Mail Merge.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in data analysis and with key education data sets is a plus;
  • A personal connection (lived and/or professional) to immigrant communities, including but not limited to community-based experience, allyship, or advocacy, is a plus;
  • Familiarity with the NNN already is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating research, data analysis, drafting/writing, preparing for presentations, and producing other products for the National Newcomer Network that align with the strategic goals of the coalition.
  • Tracking federal and key regional policy changes in K-16 education and immigration.
  • Drafting the NNN monthly newsletter and other communications with NNN members.
  • Promoting the NNN on social media by drafting tweets and language for LinkedIn and Facebook posts and managing the NNN LinkedIn Group.
  • Preparing for, participating in, and facilitating NNN meetings and events as available and appropriate.
  • Collaborating with the NNN director and leadership team to make strategic decisions for NNN actions and programming.
  • Forging and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Scheduling meetings and managing core logistics for NNN programming and for the NNN director as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
