Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for a National Levee Design Leader with at least 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience with an emphasis on the design and construction of flood risk management structures in coastal and riverine environments. The Candidate will also serve as Dewberry’s national geotechnical lead on planning, engineering, and construction of large-scale flood resilience and water related projects which will include, but not limited to, structures such as levees, floodwalls, dams, marine structures and others. The Candidate will also participate in the development of proposals, lead business development, present at conferences, participate in professional organizations, and will have the opportunity to grow nationally.   • Candidate should be able to perform engineering analysis; develop preliminary and detailed design of flood risk management system components such as levees, floodwalls, weirs, flood control channels, seawalls and others; write specifications; and develop construction documents.
  • Be the geotechnical engineer of record on projects.
  • Support leadership to develop a team of professionals that delivers multi-disciplinary flood resilience projects.
  • Develop strong client relationships.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of professionals on large design projects.
  • Lead strategy and capture planning on pursuits of large design projects.
  • Manage, lead, execute, and/or provide technical support for resilience, water resources, and hazard mitigation projects within the municipal, regional, and federal markets.
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • BS in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering), MS or PhD degree preferable.
  • At least 15 years of experience in flood resilience, flood control and water resources.
  • Professional Engineer License and ability to apply for reciprocity in various states.
  • Progressive experience conducting business development and project delivery on flood resilience and flood control projects especially for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience as the geotechnical engineer of record.
  • Knowledge of USACE, FEMA and similar agencies standards and procedures for design.
  • Knowledge of coastal engineering, riverine engineering and offshore marine engineering is a plus.
  • Candidate must have strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience using CAD programs such as AutoCAD, Microstation and others.
  • Experience using Geotechnical Design Programs such as Geostudio, CWALSHT, CTShoring, Ensoft suite, HELIX, DeepEx and others.
  • A clean driving record is required.
