The National Health Corps (NHC) Philadelphia is a program of the NHC AmeriCorps program, administered by the Health Federation of Philadelphia. NHC operates in 5 regions of the United States: Central California, Florida, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. NHC members complete 1,700 hours of service over 42-46 weeks, primarily at their host sites. Members engage in activities such as COVID-19 response, care coordination, case management, health education, outreach coordination, and patient navigation. They contribute significantly to improving health outcomes in underserved communities by addressing community health needs that are often unmet due to a lack of funding, staffing, and resources. Each member is assigned a host site mentor for guidance and professional development opportunities. Members also participate in ongoing professional development, team-building, and additional service activities through the NHC program.
