About The Position

The position involves functioning as part of the dialysis healthcare team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes responsibilities such as the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, patient education, monitoring patient responses, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The position requires overnight national travel and participation in quality enhancement programs.

Requirements

  • CCHT Certification required.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
  • Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare team in providing patient-specific education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
  • Welcome assigned patients and evaluate their wellbeing since the last treatment.
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and administer heparin as delegated.
  • Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, and evaluate vascular access pre-treatment.
  • Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and monitor patients' responses.
  • Document all relevant functions necessary for the discontinuation of treatment and evaluate the patient prior to discharge.
  • Calculate and enter individual patients' dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration goals and treatment time.
  • Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled on dialysis machines and document treatment parameters accurately.
  • Report any significant changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor.
  • Assist in training direct patient care staff under the supervision of a nurse.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting equipment and surrounding areas.
