About The Position

The National Coordinator – Field Sales & Retail Execution serves as the primary field liaison between the Channel Marketing, the Field Sales team, and the Field Sales leadership team. This role ensures that national promotional strategies and execution initiatives are translated into clear, timely, and actionable plans for the field organization. The National Coordinator is responsible for maintaining proactive engagement with Marketing stakeholders to ensure the field team has sufficient visibility, preparation time, and alignment to successfully execute retail initiatives. This role also provides leadership oversight to Field Service Managers and serves as a key driver of execution discipline, operational alignment, and continuous improvement related to national retail initiatives. The role functions as the “seat at the table” representing field sales during planning cycles, anticipating execution challenges, identifying readiness gaps, and coordinating the operational runway required for successful outcomes. Success in this position requires a high level of flexibility, self-direction, and organizational discipline. The role operates with a broad geographic scope and requires the ability to adapt to changing priorities, evolving promotional timelines, and dynamic retail conditions while maintaining strong collaboration with both field and corporate partners.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Sales, Retail Management, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in field sales, retail execution, national accounts, sales operations, or related commercial leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience working with large national retail partners, with direct Home Depot engagement strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of coordinating or leading cross-functional initiatives involving sales, marketing, supply chain, and retail stakeholders
  • Experience managing or providing leadership oversight to field-based teams such as Field Service Managers, Retail Specialists, or Territory Sales personnel
  • Strong background in promotional execution, merchandising standards, retail readiness planning, or store audit processes
  • Experience participating in national planning cycles, promotional calendar alignment, or retail event coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze execution performance data and translate insights into practical field action plans
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, CRM systems, reporting tools, and virtual collaboration platforms

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain structured coordination with Channel Marketing to ensure early awareness of upcoming promotions, programs, and retail execution initiatives requiring field engagement.
  • Support the Vice President of Field Sales in managing the national promotional and execution calendar by aligning initiative timelines with field readiness requirements.
  • Represent field sales execution considerations within cross-functional planning discussions to ensure initiatives are operationally viable and supported by appropriate preparation timeframes.
  • Translate national marketing strategies into clear field execution frameworks, including defined milestones, accountability expectations, and performance objectives.
  • Proactively identify execution risks, resource constraints, and operational barriers; collaborate with sales leadership and cross-functional partners to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate execution sequencing to provide Territory Managers, District Sales Managers, and Regional Sales Managers sufficient runway to prepare stores, inventory positioning, training activities, and merchandising standards.
  • Direct and develop Field Service Managers responsible for retail audits, merchandising execution, promotional readiness validation, and store-level support.
  • Establish standardized processes, reporting cadence, and execution tracking tools to monitor readiness and performance related to national retail initiatives.
  • Conduct regular field travel to evaluate execution effectiveness, gather insights, reinforce standards, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain consistent field presence to validate promotional readiness, observe execution standards, gather actionable feedback, and reinforce alignment between corporate strategy and field implementation.
  • Prepare executive-level updates for the Vice President of Field Sales summarizing readiness status, execution performance trends, and recommended adjustments to future initiatives.
  • Facilitate collaboration between Marketing, Sales Leadership, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Retail partners to drive aligned execution outcomes.
  • Capture field feedback, best practices, and post-promotion learnings to improve planning accuracy and execution consistency across future initiatives.
  • Required attendance at Makita national and regional meetings, cross-functional planning sessions, and in-market field visits conducted alongside Field Service Managers and field sales leadership.
