About The Position

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the External Environmental Compliance Department (EECD) within the Environmental Protection Office (EPO) of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. This position focuses on providing technical expertise for off-reservation projects that may impact the Tribe's lands and interests. The specialist ensures compliance with NEPA regulations, evaluates environmental impacts, and coordinates with stakeholders to facilitate timely project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in natural, physical, social or environmental sciences; archeology or cultural resources; or civil engineering.
• 2 years of experience in environmentalism, specifically reviewing environmental assessments (EAs) and environmental impact statements (EISs) in accordance with NEPA requirements.
• Familiarity with related environmental laws is required.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft software packages.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in reviewing environmental assessments and impact statements is preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the EECD by providing technical expertise on off-reservation projects.

• Evaluate environmental impacts and assess the validity of direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts from proposed actions.
• Critique NEPA documentation provided to staff.
