About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Access and Reimbursement, the National Director, Site of Care will optimize access to Alnylam products through the development of strategic engagement tactics and opportunities with key Alternate Site of Care accounts. This role leads a team of Strategic Account Leads who are assigned account management initiatives and strategies. This position requires a professional who can leverage their technical expertise and experience to meet Alnylam’s site of care strategy goals that builds the capacity to support patient access to our therapies and supports an enhanced experience for patients and health care providers. A key component of this role is the ability to establish the strategy, build the processes and identify opportunities that allow the site of care team to deepen customer relationships and manage the agreed upon deliverables at targeted strategic accounts. As such, extensive knowledge of ‘buy and bill’ products and prior experience with high-touch, specialty products is essential. The successful candidate must be passionate about science and deeply motivated by the quest of delivering seamless patient access to our therapies with the long-term success of the company in mind. They will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to execute strategic imperatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, emphasis in business management
  • Minimum 10 years’ of experience in the life sciences environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ previous account management experience with health systems or alternate sites of care C- and D-Suite or payors
  • Experience leading a team of account managers
  • High level of confidence, exceptional written and oral communication skills and executive presence required to engage with a C-Suite audience
  • Strong knowledge of the US payer landscape, value-based care and outcome-based models
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully mobilize cross-functional partners, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and succeed by leading without direct authority
  • Deep understanding of both medical benefit and pharmacy benefit
  • Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize multi-source information for strategic planning and ability to think critically, challenge conclusions and underlying assumptions
  • Self-starter who is enthusiastic about rare disease and Alnylam’s core values: fiercely innovative, open culture, purposeful urgency, passion for excellence, and commitment to people
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Should live near a mid-sized to major airport

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Director and Market Access Leadership to establish the comprehensive account strategy for key accounts, informed by insights from internal and external stakeholders, to bring the best of Alnylam to the customer
  • Strong partnership with internal legal and contracting partners to evaluate strategies and opportunities and in supporting the execution of individual agreements.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Leadership (Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Distribution and Operations) colleagues to ensure adequate Voice of the Customer in addition to own insights to influence strategic planning across stakeholders that encourages innovation and improves service delivery
  • Work with the Senior Director to identify program objectives, identify future targets and KPIs for target accounts that are aligned with organizational and customer priorities
  • Analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources to identify and prioritize business opportunities and potential risk across the accounts by applying relevant frameworks and analytical methods
  • Lead the execution of the comprehensive account strategy across the Strategic Account Lead team with Key Accounts
  • Works closely with internal Alnylam partners to identify enhancements for engagement with key accounts (Ways of Working) across Alnylam, key conference identification, updated language in RFPs and MSAs and resource gaps to fulfill for the team to effectively engage and execute on strategic initiatives.
  • Anticipate and communicate likely or transpiring market and customer developments, identify third party influence factors and shape the account engagement strategy accordingly
  • Coach the team in creating and fostering strong relationships and perception of Alnylam as a strategic partner with senior business stakeholders (C- and D-Suite) in target accounts, including PE-backed groups, to deliver on strategic goals for Alnylam’s products across the company portfolio
  • Ensure consistent, best-in-class site of care strategic account management practices across all customer engagements
  • Negotiate, manage and pull-through agreements that incorporate solutions to strengthen partnerships between Alnylam and strategic accounts
  • Manage the individual responsibility for and oversee the team’s ongoing contractual agreements and relationships with strategic accounts to strengthen partnerships and unlock new business opportunities
  • Lead the team in the Development, execution and oversee quarterly business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and long-term roadmap development with key accounts
