About The Position

The NAM Distribution Manager operates within a matrix structure alongside Regional Managers and a team of Sales Engineers across North America. The role supports Valve and Automation distribution and representative channel partners and is responsible for all sales‑related activities within this team. The position is accountable for developing sales strategies and programs that support and grow business through the North American distribution and representative channels.

Requirements

  • Experienced sales professional with a proven track record in business development and sales channel development.
  • Broad experience working with distribution and representative sales channels.
  • Technical experience with control valves, isolation valves, and automation products.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Experience collaborating across cross‑functional groups such as operations, commercial operations, and product management.
  • Advanced customer service skills and experience supporting channel partners.
  • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • College or university degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred, or fifteen years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Located anywhere in North America near a major airport.
  • Ability to meet 40-50% travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Flowserve’s vision into actionable strategies with clear objectives and deliverables for the sales channel.
  • Build strong working relationships across direct and distribution channel partner organizations based on trust and accountability.
  • Serve as liaison between distributors and Flowserve regional sales leadership to coordinate coverage, channel decisions, and growth strategies.
  • Drive project business growth through strategy development and cross‑functional alignment during project intake calls.
  • Evaluate distributor performance using RAD, mid-year, and EOY Distributor Strategic Sales Plan processes, and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Communicate distribution channel updates, trends, and changes to sales leadership.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Product Managers on strategies, opportunities, and product or acquisition ideas.
  • Ensure distribution partners receive sufficient training and support for product and program launches.
  • Promote constructive interaction between sales, commercial operations, and operations to maximize revenue and value to distributors and end‑users.
  • Ensure use of Sales Operations tools and provide timely forecasting to support the SIOP process.
  • Identify key opportunities, upsides, and risks and communicate what is needed to increase success probability.
  • Lead by example to promote teamwork, a positive attitude, and an enterprise mindset.
  • Communicate effectively across teams to support business goals and share knowledge.
  • Analyze and communicate market trends and conditions via weekly calls and QBRs.
  • Act as the distributor advocate within the organization.
  • Support channel partners with warranty resolution and issues impacting the end‑user experience.
  • Support alignment to key financial objectives including AR, inventory, OTP, expense control, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively across sales and functional teams; this role has no direct reports.
