About The Position

New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an innovative and comprehensive child welfare and social services agency that provides essential support to families with at least one family member who has a disability and/or chronic medical condition. Children and their families enter NAC's services through the city's foster care system, preventive services, or by way of community referral. All clients have access to a wide array of services including medical support, therapies, educational advocacy, housing assistance, recreational/cultural opportunities and intensive coaching. The NAC Futures program provides youth in NAC's Foster Care, Prevention, and Partners-in-Parenting (PIP) programs access to long-term coaching and robust academic, career development, and independent living support. The program seeks to increase graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment, preventing systems involvement, and helping young people to become successful adults. As a leadership position, the Supervisor will also help in the continual evolution of the NAC Futures program.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience or 3 years of Fair Futures experience
  • Highly developed engagement skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise coaches who each work with 15+ young people between the ages of 14 and 26 years old
  • Work with the coaches and NAC Futures young people to develop academic and career goals, connecting youth to quality 'best-fit' schools, career programs, housing, and other resources and opportunities.
  • Model a "strengths-based" and "client-centered" approach.
  • Work with coaches to ensure that young people have access to services and programs at NAC and outside of NAC including mental health, primary care, education support, housing support, workforce support, youth development programs among others.
  • Participate in 1:1 in-person and virtual meetings with coaches and NAC Futures youth.
  • Coordinate tutoring opportunities for NAC Futures youth.
  • Organize in-person events and trips for NAC Futures youth.
  • Develop youth-based and youth-led programs including discussion groups, trips-based groups, innovative groups, etc.
  • Encourage and in some cases arrange for the participation of youth in pro-social groups and activities outside of NAC.
  • Collaborate with NAC's social workers, therapists, nurses, specialists, volunteers, and others in support of the program and clients.
  • Participate in NAC case conferences, staff meetings, and other collaborations.
  • Attend trainings and professional development opportunities within NAC, at the Center for Fair Futures, and at other outside entities.
  • Assist with and/or facilitate presentations or workshops about NAC Futures.
  • Collaborate on grant reporting and application opportunities.
  • Regular maintenance of required notes and data.
  • Organization and presentation of quantitative and qualitative data, as needed.
