What We Offer This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work at least 20 hours per week and no more than 39 hours per week. The starting pay for this position is set at $19.80 per hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On‐call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. This includes a mandatory 30-minute lunch break. An onboarding session is required the week of June 1st. There will be a mandatory week-long training held June 8th – 12th from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Summer Rec Kidz officially runs from June 15th – August 7th from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. You must maintain a 90% attendance rate, as our youth rely on structure and routine to make this program a success. What You’ll Do Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking MY Denver Youth Instructors to instruct, plan, and implement organized recreation activities and enrichments for youth throughout the MY Denver network of programs. These positions provide an opportunity to make a direct positive impact to enrich the lives of the Denver community's youth, ensuring and participating in fun and engaging programming! The MY Denver Card provides free access to all Denver's recreation centers for young people, ages 5-18, who are residents of Denver and/or attend Denver Public Schools. MY Denver exists to engage young people in structured drop-in programming through a myriad of learning and social opportunities during out-of-school time. Out-of-school time recreational programming directly contributes to academic and social development, positioning youth for present and future success. MY Denver's focus is to provide safe, supportive, quality opportunities for youth to play, learn, and grow. Do you love summer and have a passion for working with youth? Our summer programs offer a fun and safe place for youth to socialize and explore a variety of recreational activities through hands-on projects and experiences. The Summer Rec Kidz Team is devoted to engaging the community through facilitating programs and activities for a diverse group of youth, ages 8–12. A full list of offerings can be found on the Denver Parks and Recreation website Our team is gearing up to engage our youth in a new and imaginative way and are looking to bring on Summer Youth Instructors to join our team. Our Youth Instructors are champions of exceptional youth development programming and provide daily mentorship and guidance to our city’s youth ages 8–12. Our Summer Youth Instructors wear many hats throughout the day as: Coaches leading physical activities such as fitness, sports, group games, and more Comfortable working with youth in a variety of settings including but not limited to outdoor spaces, pools, and mountain parks Instructors teaching a variety of arts & culture, team-building, and personal wellness activities Providers of a safe, supportive, inclusive learning environment for all participants Role models using positive youth development strategies.
