GovCIO is currently looking for a MySQL Database Administrator SME for our Courts proposal. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX.

  • Provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the architecture, design, implementation, support, operation and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS) such as Informix, DB2, MySQL, and SQL Server.
  • Performs data movement, troubleshoots issues, and writes scripts to perform common database tasks.
  • Maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
  • Performs installs, configuration, migrations, restores, and monitors the security and performance of the systems are not compromised.
  • Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations on DBMS concepts.
  • Bachelor's with 5-8 years (or commensurate experience) in Information Technology, Data Administration, or related fields.
  • Complete understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and its application.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Works under only general direction.
  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Strong MySQL database analytical and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated MySQL database configuration and administration experience.
  • Demonstrated MySQL database performance tuning experience.
  • Demonstrated MySQL database backup and data recovery experience.
  • Demonstrated MySQL report writing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows (2008 R2/2012) system administration skills.
  • Microsoft SQL Server database analytical and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft SQL Server database configuration and administration experience.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft SQL Server database performance tuning experience.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft SQL Server database backup and data recovery experience.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft SQL Server report writing experience.
  • Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
