About The Position

As the MWR Fitness Specialist, you will work in the MWR and Fitness Areas, primarily at Ali Al Salem Air Base, but with the expectation to perform duties at all MWR and Fitness locations as required. This role involves conducting fitness activities and events twice daily at each service location to accommodate both shifts. You will also manage resale activities, including alcohol sales, and must be knowledgeable about the regulations and rules for all weekly recreational activities and tournaments. The specialist will host MWR special events, which includes set-up and tear down of equipment and decorations, audiovisual support, arranging transportation for entertainers, escorting them, and providing labor and supervision. Additionally, the Recreation Specialist may work in the Lodging office, handling reservations, in-processing and out-processing personnel, and performing vacant room checks.

Requirements

Must possess an American Red Cross CPR Certificate.
Must possess an American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or local equivalent certifications (as approved by the ACO).
Must possess an Automated External Defibrillator Certification.
High school diploma or GED.
Must be knowledgeable and able to work with Microsoft software inclusive of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access Database, and Outlook.
Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, including vaccination for COVID-19 as outlined in Paragraph 1.A. of the USCENTCOM JAN 22 MOD SIXTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY.
Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Kuwait.
Must have and maintain an U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

Work in the MWR and Fitness Areas.
Be available to perform duties at all MWR and Fitness locations as required.
Conduct activities and/or event that will be held twice on the day it is scheduled, at each service location, so both shifts have the ability to participate.
Run and manage resale activities including alcohol sales.
Be knowledgeable of the regulations and rules of play regarding all weekly recreational activities and tournaments hosted within the facilities, with the ability to promptly answer all guest inquiries.
Host MWR special events, including set-up and tear down of equipment and decorations, audiovisual support, arranging/providing transportation (to include qualified licensed drivers and vehicles) of entertainers (estimated maximum of 20) between point of arrival and the base and during their stay on base, escorting entertainers to and from the event, and providing labor and supervision to support the event as required.
Work in the Lodging office completing reservations, in-processing and out-processing of personnel and performing vacant room checks (as Recreation Specialist).
Possess an American Red Cross CPR Certificate, an American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or local equivalent certifications (as approved by the ACO), and an Automated External Defibrillator Certification.
Perform successful operations of 24-hour Recreation and Fitness Centers inclusive of fitness & sports and recreation programs ensuring all PWS requirements are maintained.
Perform or oversee the maintenance of the facility ensuring a clean, sanitary, presentable, professional work area free of dirt, debris, clutter, trash and dust.
Perform cleaning, maintenance and repairs of all fitness equipment related to the fitness program.
Assist in execution of required tournaments, special events, fitness incentive programs, and aerobics/strength training classes IAW government requirements.
Assist with other facilities or departments as needed to ensure mission success.
Monitor all OCN staff associated with the department and if needed other departments.
Ensure Fitness Equipment Preventative Maintenance services are completed IAW the PWS.
Assist in operation checks and warranty services on fitness equipment IAW manufacturer’s guidelines.
Assist in daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventive maintenance, adjustments, and repair.
Perform NAF re-sale cashier operations inclusive of cashiering, funds control, and conformance to all local operating instructions and policies inclusive of handling and selling alcohol products.
Participate in loading, unloading and storing of purchased goods.
Be knowledgeable of the regulations and rules of play regarding all activities and tournaments hosted within the facilities.
Actively engage with guests regarding programs and events.
Maintain all MWR facilities in a clean, sanitary, healthy, and professional manner free of dust, dirt, debris, clutter, and trash.
Conduct weekly events include bingo, Texas Hold’em, foosball, dominoes, spades, bid whiz, karaoke, pizza night, pool, ping pong, video game tournaments, etc.
Handle customer inquiries, check in/out games, play movies, provide information of upcoming trips/tours, decorate for holidays, develop and run tournaments, count customers, provide information of upcoming events, and ensure complimentary consumable items are provided to customers such as popcorn at all times.
Verify all supplies necessary to enjoy the complimentary items are properly stocked.
Perform other duties as assigned by Site Manager.
