About The Position

This individual is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while ensuring the success and profitability of our unique offerings. The right Musician will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator. Musicians will act as a member of a musical group such as a pit orchestra or band, under the direction of the Stage Manager and Musical Director, to assist in providing a world class musical and entertainment experience for Park Guests. The ideal candidate will be able to display Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable. Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities Plays one or more musical instruments Performs as soloist or as member of musical group such as pit orchestra or band Studies and rehearses music to learn and interpret musical score Plays from memory or by following musical score Transposes music to play in an alternate key Improvises music, as necessary Composes music, as necessary Accompanies soloist or another musician, as needed Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time

Requirements

  • Formal training (private study, college/university)
  • At least three years playing in an organized ensemble (combo, band, orchestra, etc.)
  • Musical talent, versatility, creativity, poise, and stage presence are required.
  • Able to make a friendly impression when speaking to or corresponding with guests, vendors, and other employees
  • Able to project Dollywood’s image by being genuinely friendly and caring and by taking pride in their work
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Must be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information
  • Must display and live out our Lead with Love principles by being: patient, kind, humble, respectful, selfless, forgiving, honest and committed
  • Must be willing to constantly improve
  • Must have professional appearance with good personal hygiene
  • Must promote and support a “team” work environment by cooperating and helping co-workers
  • Must adapt to changes easily

  • Able to tolerate various temperatures while working outdoors

  • Able to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, jump, twist and move about in order to perform job
  • Able to lift and carry and help lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have above average hearing, reading and memorization skills
  • Able to tolerate various non-toxic chemicals (i.e. special effects)
  • Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory skills, preferred
  • Previous musical performance experience in a theme park, orchestra, or school setting, preferred
