Job Summary Music Therapist provides inpatient functional assessments to patients across the lifespan and facilitates individual and group clinical programming utilizing a music therapy framework in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in music therapy
  • Valid Certification for Music Therapists (MT-BC) with active CT licensure as a Music Therapist required
  • Computer proficient
  • Ability to assess problems, determine solutions and make decisions within a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish relationships within and outside their entity
  • Develops and maintains cultural competence with an understanding of the history, traditions, values, and family systems of client groups as relates to health care and decision-making. Displays sensitivity to and awareness of the diversity in cultural groups and integrates this knowledge into their practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred.
  • 2 years experience providing rehabilitation services to clients with behavioral health or substance misuse preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a functional assessment in relation to the patient's reason for admission to support making recommendations of group topics, general safety, milieu engagement, and transition planning
  • Plans, organizes and implements individual and group treatment activities using a variety of best practice music therapy techniques and interventions in alignments with the multidisciplinary treatment team plan.
  • Provides enhanced individual support (1 on 1) to patients identified by the clinical team under the guidance of the department supervisor, facilitates music therapy groups.
  • Maintains timely patient-centered documentation that reflects the patient and client systems' pertinent information for assessment, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory licensing requirements and third-party agencies
  • Independently able to provide art therapy interventions to all patient populations
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to determine the appropriate therapy services for individual patients (art, music, group, etc.)
  • Supports the training and oversight of interns within the department in partnership with the department supervisor by providing clinical supervision and supporting day to day training operations of interns including oversight of intern facilitated programming and documentation.
