About The Position

JOB SUMMARY The Music Therapist provides music therapy that is designed to meet the patient’s psychological and/or physical needs. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs patient assessments to evaluate appropriateness for a music therapy program and contributes to the plan of treatment. Reports changes in the patient’s conditions and needs to the Registered Nurse Case Manager or Director of Social Services. Observes for safety hazards in the patient’s and organization’s environments and takes appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate them. Designs and implements a variety of music therapy and plans to meet the individual needs of each patient. Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning sessions. Provides therapeutic interventions. Provides education to the staff and community on the music therapy program. Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars, and workshops. Attends and participates in in services, staff meetings, and case conferences as required. Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner. Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and standards of practice. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited music therapy program.
  • Current certification from an accredited music therapy program.
  • The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel (e.g. community partners, patients, etc.) is an essential function of the job.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.
