About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Music Therapist for their Expressive Therapy Department. The role involves extending God’s care through physical, mental, and spiritual healing by organizing and conducting therapeutic activities such as dance, music, arts, crafts, social activities, trips, group discussions, and special programs tailored to patients' needs, capabilities, and interests. The Music Therapist will also participate in developing patient treatment plans, document specialized therapy assessments and progress notes, maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, assist in ordering and maintaining Expressive Therapy supplies and equipment, and observe and report changes in patients’ behavior and health conditions to the RN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. recreation therapy, music therapy, art therapy)
  • Board certification as MT-BC and licensure in MD as LPMT (for Music Therapy)
  • Bachelor's degree in music therapy
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g. recreation therapy, music therapy, art therapy)
  • 2 years’ experience in acute care psychiatric setting preferred
  • Board Certification/registration preferred

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and conducts therapeutic activities such as dance, music, arts, crafts, social activities, trips, group discussions and special programs in according to what the patients' needs, capabilities, and interests are
  • Participates in the development of a treatment plan for patients after evaluating the patients based off of their medical records
  • Documents specialized therapy assessments, treatment plan, and progress notes in the patients' charts
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff by demonstrating knowledge of safety issues and proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Assists in ordering and maintaining the Expressive Therapy supplies/equipment
  • Observes changes in patients’ behavior and health condition and reports to RN
