Overview This position is to accomplish individualized goals for children in the healthcare setting through the use of specifically planned music interventions. These goals are established by individual assessments and the care team, and focus on physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and emotional needs. The music therapist will provide music interventions to assist with the enhancement of growth and development, rehabilitation, relaxation, increased comfort, and diversion. This position will also assist in meeting the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Music Therapy; masters level equivalency in Music Therapy is acceptable and 1-2 years experience Completion of AMTA-approved clinical Music Therapy internship counts toward experience.
  • or Master's Degree (beneficial)
  • Certified Music Therapist MT-BC
  • Certified-Music Therapist Board Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists - MT-BC Required within 30 Days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide Music Therapy treatment that engages patients and families in therapeutic music interventions that lead to optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Provide a positive hospital environment that will facilitate self expression and appropriate stimulation for patients and families.
  • Represent, communicate, and explain Music Therapy services appropriately to other professionals, volunteers, and caregivers; work collaboratively with all parties as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in research and perform other duties as assigned.
