About The Position

The Music Therapist is responsible for the provision of Music Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient’s behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional, or physical. The therapist educates the patient in healthy coping skills, and available resources to continue the client in post-discharge planning and involvement. The therapist will be responsible for the provision of services according to the current standards of practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music Therapy with Certification in Music Therapy required.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Therapy with a current CTRS is acceptable.
• One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
• Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) required.

Responsibilities

• Provision of Music Therapy services including assessment and treatment planning.
• Utilization of individual and/or group interventions to promote positive behavioral changes.
• Education of patients in healthy coping skills.
• Involvement in post-discharge planning and resource availability.
• Adherence to current standards of practice in service provision.
