About The Position

The Music Teacher at Carver Elementary School is responsible for developing students' understanding and appreciation of music through a variety of genres, periods, and styles. The teacher will identify, promote, and develop each student's talents in both vocal and instrumental musical expression. This position requires the development and administration of a music education curriculum that aligns with the school district's goals and objectives, while also fostering a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small group instruction.

Requirements

  • State Certification as a Music Teacher.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience in music for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops balanced music program and lessons to organize class time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual needs.
  • Utilizes a repertoire of all types of music literature as appropriate.
  • Plans, coordinates rehearsals for, and directs students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to school standards and establishes standards of student behavior.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate music supplies and instrumental equipment, maintaining inventory records.
