Summit School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lower School Music Lead Teacher to join our team. If you are a creative and forward-thinking educator who wants to design a curriculum where students don't just "learn songs," but explore the depth of musical artistry, we want to hear from you. As the Lower School Music Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a dynamic, age-appropriate music curriculum for grades 1-5. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the performing arts experience, ensuring students develop foundational skills—such as singing, and instrumental proficiency and notation—while fostering a sense of awe and wonder. You will lead signature events like the First and Second Grade Sing and integrate music into our monthly division-wide gatherings. Joining a team committed to values of belonging and curiosity, you will partner closely with Early Childhood and Upper School faculty to ensure a "picket fence" (seamless) transition for students across all divisions. At Summit School, we are committed to creating a learning environment where everybody feels they belong and matter. As music educators, we recognize we play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of creative thinkers and courageous performers. We believe that learning is a journey that should be joyful, and that confidence and competence go hand-in-hand. We also know that the most significant variable in our students’ experience is the quality of their teachers. Our faculty are continually developing as professionals; Summit School has a long-standing tradition of providing significant professional development, including opportunities to integrate Project Zero frameworks, Responsive Classroom, and Culturally Responsive techniques into the arts.
