About The Position

Elementary Music Teacher – West Elementary (Little Rock Campus) Position Status: Open Now Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Elementary Music Teacher facilitates student growth in musical knowledge, performance skills, creativity, and interpersonal development by implementing district-approved music curriculum; documenting student progress and performance; addressing the diverse learning needs of students; creating a flexible, safe, and engaging learning environment; and providing ongoing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers an elementary music curriculum aligned with school and district goals, objectives, and state standards.
  • Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, engaging, and conducive to individual, small-group, and whole-group musical instruction and performance.
  • Designs and implements lesson plans that include vocal music, rhythm, movement, music theory, listening skills, and performance , maximizing effective use of instructional time.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student musical growth and adapts instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including students with special needs.
  • Instructs students in responsible citizenship, collaboration, and performance etiquette in alignment with school expectations and applicable policies.
  • Integrates music across content areas when appropriate and supports schoolwide events, performances, and programs.
  • Engages in continuous professional growth by attending music education workshops, professional meetings, and training opportunities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records related to student participation, progress, and performance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages family involvement in student learning and communicates effectively with students and parents regarding performances, expectations, and progress.
  • Establishes and maintains clear behavioral expectations that align with school and district policies to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers, grade-level teams, and other instructional staff to support schoolwide goals and student development.
  • Selects, requisitions, and maintains music materials, instruments, equipment, and inventory.
  • Supervises students during music-related activities that occur outside the classroom, including assemblies, performances, transitions, and transportation-related events.
  • Administers assessments and evaluations related to music instruction in accordance with district procedures and guidelines.
